QSC Training Stage Audio Works

d&b IP and Dante networks Workshop.

It’s hard to imagine production environments today without data networks. Data transfer not only comprises control and monitoring data. The option of transmitting the two simultaneously and in parallel in digital form is increasingly used in in the Pro Audio segment thanks to rapid, digital network systems. This additional module is an extension of a d&b System Workshop and offers the key basics to implement a closed IP and Dante network for live applications.

Requirements
Participants should be experienced in tackling sound engineering problems and should want to acquire basic know-how about digital audio networks. They should have sound experience in handling PC-based computer systems. Participants should have already attended a d&b System Workshop (J-Series and V-Series, or Y-Series and T-Series) dealing with the R1 software, and be familiar with handling R1. Please bring your own laptop running at least Windows 7 or higher or OS X 10.7 or higher.

The goal
Participants learn the functions of the DS10, a digital audio network bridge, as well as the basics of IP-based Ethernet networks, with a view to their basic configurations and basic topologies. Efficient configuration options are acquired, as well as the use of different protocols, such as Dante and OCA. All this will provide a general overview on how to link d&b systems reliably with audio signals and remote networks.

Content

  • Demonstration of the DS10, an audio network bridge for digital audio and data transmission.
  • General view of IP-based data networks. Basis for every network, with or without audio. Topology and addressing are touched upon here.
  • Dante basics. How do audio signals go from A to B through the network reliably?

Method
The content is conveyed in a format that uses practical examples and encourages participants to exchange experiences and play an active role.
