Delivering three tailored systems, Stage Audio Works Namibia has elevated the restaurant scene at Windhoek’s Maerua Mall with reliable, high-quality sound from Audac.
Maerua Mall, located in Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, underwent a major renovation and expansion at the end of 2024, introducing a host of new retail, dining, and entertainment facilities. Three of the mall’s newly opened restaurants – Bossa, Ocean Basket, and Galito’s – turned to Stage Audio Works (SAW) Namibia to design, supply, and install sound systems tailored to their needs.
Each restaurant required user-friendly control, clarity and coverage throughout the venue. For the international debut of Bossa – a South African family restaurant – SAW Namibia was tasked with designing a custom audio solution. “From the outset, we were given complete freedom to design a comprehensive system,” says Joppie Maritz, Managing Director at SAW Namibia. “Our goal was to deliver an easy-to-use solution that ensures high-quality sound with even coverage throughout the venue.” Located on the outside of the mall, background music needed to be loud enough to mask the noise of the street and traffic, yet subtle enough not to disrupt customers’ conversations. To achieve this, SAW specified Audac for a reliable and user-friendly audio solution.
“For playback, we selected the Audac XMP44 SourceCon professional modular audio system,” explains Maritz. “It is configured with Audac Audio Streaming, Media Player and Internet Radio modules, giving the restaurant flexibility in terms of playback sources. For the background audio system, we opted for Audac CIRA 8 passive ceiling loudspeakers, installed evenly throughout the restaurant and driven by Audac CAP424 amplifiers.”
An Audac MTX48 audio matrix was also implemented for flexible signal routing and zone management, whilst the Audac SourceCon makes it simple to switch between television audio during sports broadcasts and background music

The popular seafood restaurant, Ocean Basket, also enlisted SAW Namibia to design a sound system for its new Maerua Mall venue. “Similar to Bossa, Ocean Basket required a system that was easy to navigate and would provide high-quality audio whilst keeping to the clients’ budget,” Maritz reveals. With this in mind, SAW designed a hybrid system of Audac loudspeakers, with different models selected to suit the different zones within the venue.
In the balcony area, Audac CIRA8 loudspeakers were installed on the ceiling, whilst the restaurant interior was fitted with Audac ATEO4 wall-mounted loudspeakers. For power and control, the Audac MFA216 multi-functional amplifier was deployed to drive high-quality audio whilst supporting the Audac NMP40 streaming module, which allows for reliable playback from Spotify. “The MFA amplifier is fully compatible with the Audac Touch app,” states Maritz. This gives the restaurant staff the ability to manage audio sources, playback, and volume with ease. “Staff will be able to control the system from their mobile devices or via a dedicated PC – ensuring maximum flexibility and ease of use.”

Finally, Galito’s – a well-known chicken restaurant chain in Namibia – approached SAW Namibia for a straightforward yet impactful solution. “The priority for this system was much like the previous two projects,” says Maritz. “Simplicity, high-quality audio, and consistent coverage throughout the space were essential.” Once again, due to the reliability, clarity, and proven successes of the past two projects, SAW Namibia selected an Audac system.
The Audac MFA216 multi-functional amplifier was combined with Audac CIRA 7 loudspeakers to be the core of the system, providing both amplification and control within a compact design. Spotify streaming was similarly achieved through the pairing of the MFA amplifier and the NMP40 module, with the Audac Touch app allowing staff to conveniently control audio sources and volume. “The user-friendly system and app ensure smooth day-to-day operations, helping to create an enjoyable atmosphere for guests at Galito’s,” concludes Maritz. SAW Namibia also supplied a WoodUpp Akupanel that was installed on one of the restaurant’s feature walls to complement the restaurant’s aesthetics, with the natural oak colour blending seamlessly into the venue’s design.
Through these three projects at Maerua Mall, Stage Audio Works Namibia has demonstrated the talent of its team in designing, supplying, and installing audio solutions specifically tailored to the needs of each client. The impressive sound quality and coverage are also a testament to the reliability and flexibility of the Audac systems when deployed across different environments. By combining SAW’s expertise and attention to detail with the proven quality of Audac equipment, these installations ensure that Bossa, Ocean Basket, and Galito’s can offer visitors to Maerua Mall a consistently memorable dining experience, wherever they choose to eat.
